Britain's Part In European Economic Integration
Received Monday, 9.1£ a.m. LONDON. Nov. 20. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Stafford Cripps, broadcasting to Europe tonieht, declared that there was certainiy nothing in Britain's position in the sterling area to prevent her playing a full part in the economic integration of Western Europe. Sir Stafford said that the fundamental objective of all Western European nations was a wide market to increase production and provide full employment for all their populations. Britain would give all possible support to the Marshall Aid. Administrator, Mr. Paul Hoffman's, suggestions of closer European economic integration on a group or regional basis.
