Second Entry For 1953 Air Race
LONDON, Nov. 17. Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft, Ltd., have provisionally entered their AW55 (Apoao) transport aircraft in the handieap section of England-to-Ohrist-church air race in 1953. The Apollo, driven by four Mamba turbo-prop engines, is designed to carry between 26 and 31 passengers and a erew of four. It has a cruising speeu of 300 miles an hour and a maximum speed of 330. The prototype had its first trials early in April and has now done about 60 hours' fLying. "This is the second British entry in the Christchurch air race. Theode Havilland Aircraft Company has indicated that it will enter an aircraft, out has not yet decided what machine will be used.
