Auckland Electorates See Numerical Changes

AUCKLAND, Nov. 18. Twenty-nine electors cast their votes for the General Election on the Union Company liner Monowai this afternoon before sailing for Australia. This was not a large number out of a total passenger list of 331 but many passengers no doubt cast their postal votes before embarking aud the passengers ineluded a number of children and many who were not New Zeaianders. Five deputy returning officers sat in the first-class smokeroom for an hour and a half ready to deal with any rush but they were not bustled. No fewer than 7570 more voters are on the electoral. rolls for the Auckland area this year than for the 1946 General Election. The figures for nine more electorates became available today, eompieting the list of 15 electorates extending from Otahuhu in the south to Rodney in the north. Increases are most rnarked in the outer suburban areas. There are about 2300 more voters in the Tamaki and Waitakere electorates, about 2000 more in Otahuhu, 1500 more in Rodney and R'oskill and nearly 100'j more in Onehunga. However, these are partly offset by large decreases in Auckland Central where 1426 fewer are en titled to vote in Arch- Hill and Eden.
