Power Board Ready To Make Concrete Poles

• • After having spent con-siderable time in making preparations, the Horo whenua Electric Power. Boardwill now be manufacturing its own electric power poles. This was stated by the engineer, Mr. J. F. Bryce, at a meeting oi the board on Wednesday. The project is still something in the nature of an experiment, but it is hoped that it will be suecessful, The first step in the experiment was to make moulds out of oregon timtoer and to line them with Sfceel. The engineer then had to wait for the ingredients, of whic'h cement is t'he most important, before progressing with the work. The poles, which will be 30 feet ..in length, will serve for use on the low tension lines. When the project is under- way it is hoped to be able to manufacture two poles a day. This will considerably relieve the restrictions on poles.
