Names Are In For General Election

Nominations for the New Zealand General Election on November 30, closed yesterday, revealing that in quite a large number of electorates there will be triangular contests. In Western Maori there are no fewer than eight candidates. Communist nominations number fifteen. The.candidates are listed this year under 13 designations or party affiiiations. At the last election there were only' seveii, and in 1943 there were 19. The 13 designations are: National, Labour, Communist, Independent, pemocrafic Labour, Democratic Liberal, Independent Labour, Independent Liberal, Independent Social Credit, Revolutionary Socialist, Labour aridRatana, Christian Democrat, and Kauhanganui. The Kauhanganui Party is a new Maori party which is contesting .the three North Island Maori seats.
