Packed Theatre For Annual Dance Recital

» - The Regent Theatre was packed last night when the Jean Seott School of Dancing presented its annual dance reeitai. The first. three items on the programme were appreciated by the audience, but an overwhelming success for the production was assured with the presentation of the fourth dance, "On Parade," by the senior intermediate dancers and Victor Elliott. To see a three-year-old boy march on to the Stage and perform a far from simpie part with the ease of an experienced adult dancer was indeed wonderful. The young dancer seemed quite ablivious to the fact t'hat he had astouflded a large audience and claimed a mighty, ovation. The first portion of the programme comprised 18 dances with an uniimited variation. The final number before the interval wats "The Discontented PrinceSs," a highly entertaining story of a princess who was dissatisfied with her lot and desired some special gift. Amid the swirl of a delightful dance, the young lady spurned all attempts tb satisfy her until a -beggar boy appeared with a rose. This was the ideal gift and, together with the happy courtiers,. the princess and the beggar joined in the final dance. Ihe cast was Fleur Haley (Princess), Yvonne Bowler (Prince), Jean Curtis (Beggar Boy), Gail Prentice (Court Jester), Jocelyn' Byrne, Marie Yorston, Mary Hill and Jean Berquist (Ladies-in-Waiting), Valerie Brand and Margaret Leask (Footmeii) , Feter Bowler and Ian Cottle (Slaves) and the intermediate dancers (Guests) .
