AUCKLAND, Nov. S. Voting in the general eleetion started in Auckland on Monday afternoon when nienibers of the crew of the Kaiinanawa east tlieir votes jitst before Ihe sliip sailed for Brisbane. The group was able to vote umler the postal voting regulations in spite of the fact that nounnations for candidutes close on November lll. The Registrar of Eicctors in Auckland (Mr. J. II. Y. Carr) said tonight that so long as a voler's inteution was clear to the returning otlicer liis vote was valid. The voter might vote for either prospective candidate or for a political party aud the vote would be acceptablo. voting slips to the Returning Otlicer for Dunedin Central. The ship will sail for Hydney today aud as the eicctors among the sliip \s complement will be out of the Dominion 011 November 30 they were able to exercise tlieir riglits to postal votes. All the men are enrolled in North Island electorates.
