"Dead Hand Stretching Out From The Grave"

Received Tuesday 8.50 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 8. The^House of Commons decided by 380 votes to 47 that British heiresses will not longer be barred from antiei pating their income if it is derived from trust funds. 'Lady Mountbatten is one of the benefieiaries affected. She inherited £1,400,000 from her grandfather, Sir Ernest Cassel, but though her income had fall en from £80,000 to £4500 she was unable to use the capital or borrow oa her future income. The Attorney-General, -Sir Hartley Shawcross, said the Bill would apply to thousands of women, not only to wealthy heiresses. He did not think the happiness of married women should be controlled by a "dead hand stretching out from the grave."
