Radioactivity Applied To Dyeing And Finishing
NEW YORK, Nov. 6. A new textile dying and finishing process has been developed th rough what is believed toGm the first successful use of radioactive source materials in industrial production, the New York HeraldTribune said today. It added that the process promised to revolutionise tho handling of all types of textile fabrics. The process has been developed by a company working under li,cence from the United States Atomic Energy Commission. Through the use of a new compound manufaetured from radioactive source materials a method has been developed which permitted the use of photochemistry for the first time in the dying and finishing of all types of textiles. The method was applied through a radically different type of equipment which not only required far less space and less manpower than the" normal finishing plants, but in a single operation dyed, finished and dried' the fabric at high speed.
