Remembrance Day. Remembrance Day will toe commemorated throughout the Dominion tomorrow with a two minutes' silence from 11 a.m. In Levin offlcial time'will be indicated by a short blast on the siren at the Fire Station, with a further Short blast at 11.2 a.m. Music Examinations. At the Trinity College of Music examinations conducted in Levin last week, the three pupils entered by Mrs. Coleman were successful, the results being: — Senior division: Phyllis Robinson, 83 marks (merit). Initial division: Robin Graham, 89 marks (honours) ; an'd Alison Green, 65 marks (pass) . Bringing It Home? Mr. P. T. Curran, Labour candidate for Eden, believes in illus'trating points he makes in his election addresses. At a meeting he produced in turn a pound of butter, a loaf of bread, an apple, a banana — and a beautifullydressed doll. A number of women in the audience wanted to know where he got the: banana.
Warm Swimming Water. Although the water in the Coronation Baths is the warmest experienced for some years for so early in the season, it is still not attracting many adults other than those who are regular early morning bathers. Children, however, are enjoying the facility to the full and, armed with their pennies, are seen racing for the baths immediately after school. The temperature of the water yesterday had risen to 68 degrees, the increase being one point daily since the baths opened on Wednesday.
Short Court Sitting. The court sitting in Levin yesterday was a short one. On the bench were Messrs J. S. Moir and G. Sweetman, J.P's., the circuit magistrate, Mr. A. A. McLachlan, being on leave of absence. Mr. McLachlan will preside at a special sitting of' the Magistrate's Court in Levin on November 16 to hear cases set down for yesterday, but adjourned. The only cases heard yesterday/ were those brought by the Police and Transp'ort Departments.
Rose Sunday. "Rose Sunday has been observed in Auckland for the past 13 years and I commend it to you people and think it is a very good idea," said Mr. C. V. Holyoake, president of the National Rose Society of New Zealand, at a meeting of the Wanganui District Rose Society. Rose Sunday is observed in one of the Auckland chufches every year and the church is vilecorated for the occasion. It was tried in Wellington last year and will be repeated again this year, Mr. Holyoake added.

Taranaki Roads. The expenditure of £125,000 on the Taranaki State and main highways, which was proposed by the Taranaki Highways Council in April, has been approved by ■•the Main Highways Board. The major works include approaehes to the Mohakatino Bridge and the building of the bridge itself. Many of Taranaki's worst stretches of road will be improved by the widening and resealing, but the sealing of. the Mimi Valley road between' Uruti and Mangamaio may have to wait. It was planned to complete the formation and metalling this season, but flood damage has set work back. I
