Personal. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Bird, of Kirk Street, are spending a vacation in Napier, where Mr. Bird will be attending the Methodist Conference of New Zealand. - i Mrs. J. B. Ward, of Waerenga Road, is visiting Blenheim this weekend to attend the wed'ding of ( her son, Mr. G. G. Ward, to Miss Betty Gibson, of Blenheim. Vital Statistics. For the month of October, 17 ■births were advised to the registrar, Mr. C. G. Anderson, 13 being European and four Maori. Marriage notices issued number two. There were no deaths Card Evenings. A disappolnting attendance was seen at the weekly card evening heM last Saturday in the Druids' Hall, and the series has now been abandoned. Prizes were won by Mr. and Mrs. R. Bills. At the Otaki Railway Bowling Club's weekly evening, held in the club's pavilion on Wednesday night, prize-winners were Mesdames T. Lowe and E. J. Rosoman (firsts) and Mrs. A. Barker and. Mr. W. Connor (seconds), with a special award going to Mrs. R. Bills. On Thursday night. in the Druids' Hall the Tuis Marching Team .committee held its semi-final night. Winners on this occasion were Mesdames R. Mather and R. Bills (firsts), and Mrs. -H. Cole and Mr. E. Smith seconds. Mr. G. Jorey won a special prize.
