He is "The Placer" who acts as the middlfe'man between thieves and receivers though he | never sees - either or even the stolen } goods. The Placer lives by the telephone. He is the confidant af both thieves and buyers and he is trusted by them. • After a bnrglary the thief telephones The Placer .and' tells him .what he has to sell. The Placer then arranges for buyers to view the stolen property. He then obtains ofl'ers which he tranamits to the thief, and on acceptance arranges the transport of the stolen goods to the receiver. d
