Informers To Help Beat Currency Racketeers
Received Tuesdav 7.15 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 1. Sir .Stafford Cripps, in an attempt to beat the eurreney- yacketeers and »Tnngglers, announced thai he was prepared to pav informers. He wTas asked to consider this niove to stop people evad ing ihe Exchange Control Act which lian ned money and valuables leaving or entering the country except in small amounts. Sir Stafford said he was preparel in suitable cases to sanction rhe payment of rewards for information which proved of value in detecting or prevent- | ing evasions of the Act. A Treasnry official later explainea ' that the system of rewards was a reg- | ular feature of the Revenue Depart- • ment and it was now felt that the ' Treasurv should adopt it. .
