Erroneous Idea.

Tpo many people were under the erroneous ' impression ' that high schools ' catered onlv for the children with brains, while the "duds" were assimilated into the technical colleges, said Mr. C. J. Hayward at a meeting of the Dunedin Technical College Board. Brains were just as necessary in industry as in a profession, he said. Irrespective of primary school qualifications, if a chil'd wished to pursue some work with his or her hands, such as a skilled trade, the child should attend a technical college. There were many instances, he added, where a child was sent to a high school as the parents regarded it "as the right thing," but later .they found that they had made a mistake.
