OAMARU, Oct. 29. ' ' The Government has giveu eonsideration to the possibility of makiug extra petroJ available for the Christmas season," said tlie Miuister of Supply (Mr Norduieyer) this morning, "and I am pleased to announce that it has been decided that Deeember eoupons will be available at doublc their normul faee value. "The position, therefore, will be that October eoupons — Nos. 10, 11 and 12--vvhich have not been expended will bc available in November, " said thc Miuister. ' ' In addition eoupons Nos, 13, 14 and 15 will be available for thc month of November at their full fa-c value. Any of these eoupons — Nos. 13, 14 and 15 — which are not used :iu Xovenibcr may be utilised in Deeember. Ooupous Nos. 10, 17 and 18 will be available either in Deeember oi .lafiuary at doublc their faee value, Coupons Nos. 19, 20 and 21 will be available in January at their full. faee value, or may be carried o\£er until Eebruary. "This extra petrol," said the Miuister, "is being made available for the purpose of easing the straiiUon public transport facilities during the Christmas holiday period. Iu order to enable taxis to eompetet with the extra Clifistmas rush," eoncluded the Miuister, :"a further 20 gallons will be allotteci : iu Deeember for eaeh-sirtgle shift taxi , and 30 gallons for each double shift taxis to eompete with the extra CliTistgallons will be made for rental ears."
