Townsend and Pa'ul, Ltd., fruit and produce auctioneers, Wellington, report that at last Thursday's sale there was a particuiany keen demand for hot-house tomatoes and strawberries, the firsc of the new season. Bronze plums were oft'ered and realisations were most attractive. New Zealana grapefruit are slow to sell, owing to heavy consignments of Australian oranges. • There was a particularly keen demaird for choice lettuce, green peas, pumpkins, new season's beetroot and oroad beans. All other lines were in fair demand. Hothouse cucumbers brought up to 26s per dozen. Consignments of new potatoes are strongly recommended.. xardmgs of poultry were heavy at this sale, but values still remained flrm at current rates.
