m Football Wmd-up. A comniittee « -meeting of the Shannon Football Club, held redently, made . final preparations for the club's wind-up dance to be held in the Moutoa Hall on Saturday. evening. It.was agreed to run a free bus to the function. Tennis Season Opened. Unfortunately, weather conditions have prevented the offlcial opening ceremony being held at the local tennis courts for the past two Saturdays. It has now been decided that the season be declareh officially open. Although the attendance at the courts has not been large, it is expected that the membership will increase as the "weather improves. Gala Day Postponed. The Shannon , Bowling Club's gala day, which was to have been. held last Saturday, was postponed owing to unfavourable weather. The greens were well. patronised over the weekend, however, and it is expected that there wxl be a big attendance at the opening on Saturday. A local tournament will be held on Labour Day and it is anticipated that many visiting rinks will be present. t At Glimpse At The Future. It is not known whether comingi events cast their shadows before them or if the youngsters were gifted with second sight, but it happened in Shannon towards the end of last week when four children were making their rounds with a Guy Fawkes and requesting the customary penny for Guy. When told by a resident that they were making their run at least two weeks too soon, they promptly replied that they were getting ixk before the depression.
