Personal. Mrs. R. Eaton, of Bell Street, has returned from a fortnight's holiday in Hawke's Bay. Mr. A. Gurney, of Rangatira Street, the local postman who suffered a fall from his bicycle a few days ago, is suffering from cracked ribs and is on sick leave. Cricket Practice All members and intending members of the Otaki Cricket Cluc are asked to attend a practice at the Otaki Domain for senior and junior players on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. Memorial Subsidy A deputation from the Otaki War Memorial Society's executive journeyed to Wellington on Wednesday to wait on the UnderSecretary for Internal Affairs in connection with its application for a subsidy on the funds raised. Evening Sports Ihe committee of the Otak. Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club has agreed on November i as the night on which evening sports will start. Trophies won by local riders in the Otaki tr. Wellington road race will be pre sented at the function and the Otaki Band is to be invited tc attend. A social committee, as well as a ladies' committee has been elected. Rangiatea Celebrations A well-attended meeting of Tribal Committee delegates, hela at the weekend, enter®d most enthusiastically into plans for the celebration of the centenary of fche Rangiatea Church. The new altar cloth will be presented on March 18, 1960, when the church will be re-opened. An ordination ceremony will be held the following day (Sunday) , and arrangements are in train for the securing of a building thought suitable for the holding of a ball on the Monday. It is estimated that at least 2000 visitors will require to be provided for during the celebrations. Marching Arrangements Marchmg supporters throughout the district are rallying their forces in anticipation of the commencement of a busy season. Ths announcement that the Manawatu Centre championships will probably be held in. Otaki on December 3 has arpused considerable local interestv ,Bk^t year "the loeah teams, Tuis and Bandoliers, both secured wins for costumes at this fixture, with Caledonian (Levin) the winners of the open march. Teams will be assisting with f street march and demonstration at the Royal Show in Palmerston North on November 5, and on November 12 the season will open in the Horowhenua with a gala day at Levin. The Bandoliers report a donation of £15 towards their funds from Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Edwards, while two silver cups have been donated to the Tuis team for junior competition. The Huia team (Waikanae) has also received two silver cups.
