Women's Section Of R.S.A. Holds Meeting
There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the women's section of the Shannon Returned Services' Association, held in Laurvig's Hall on a recent afternoon. Apologies were received from Mesdam B. Clayton, J. A. Egston a. C. Johnson. Routine business was diseussed and it was resolved that section members would again assist with the selling of roses on Rose Day, which is to be held on November 11. A donation was made towards the R.S.A. parcels for Britain fund. Following a discussion it was agreed to hold the children's Christmas pa 'ty again this year and initial arrangements were made. Mem"'-ers de^ided +o hold the party in ine Moatoa 1 d, as the available hall in S annon would be too small to acc mmodate the large gathering expected. In past years this function has been very popular with young and old alike, and lias always attracted considerable in'terest. The usual monthly competition for the best bloom was held and the winner was Mx's. J. GrifEiths, with Mesdames G. Hampson and F. O. Burtt equal'for second place. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for .the day, Mesdames Bell and Roberts.
