Indoor Bowling Becoming Very Popular

"It is very gratifying to'see the interest that has grown for the sport during this lasc season," said the president, Mr. J. D. Renkin, when speaking at the final sociai of the Levin Indoor Bowling Club, held in the Kimberley Hail on Saturday evening. During tine season, he continued the number of clubs in the Horowhenua iiistrict had increased from three to nine. The Levin Club, which had pioneered the game in the district, was largely responsible for the fostering of indoor bowls in outside centres. and it was pleasing to see that its efforts had not been in vain, said the president. The speaker concluded by extending a welcome ua members of other clubs who attended the sociai and thanking all those who had contributed to the success of the evening. Trophies for the different competitions were awarded as follows: — Senior singies: Mr. K. A. Bowater; runner-up Mr. A. D. Drake. B grade singies: Mr. G. Barclay; runner-up: Mrs. A. D. Clarke. Pairs: Mrs. H. Bolton and Mr. Drake; runners-up: Mrs. W. Bull \ and Mr. H. J. Bowater. Fours: Mrs. Forster and Messrs Barclay," J. Arniel and K. A. Bowater; run-ners-up: Mesdames A. H. Mudgway, Bull, J. D. Renkin and Mr. J. W. Ward. During the evening items were given by Mr. B. Walker (recitationi, Mr. G. R. Lester (cornet solo) and Mr. P. Carroll (vocal) .
