Fat Sheep Values Easier At Levin Sale
At the Levin sale yesterday a fair yarding in all sections met with a ready demand. In the sheep section fat wefhers ahd hoggels showed a slight easlng in values. Porkers and bacpners hardened on Drevious realisations. Fat cattle and ox beef were in an over supply, prices easing in consequence, while fat heifers and cows remained steady. Dairy and store cattle, again in „ short supply, were in keener demand. Quotations are: — Fat sheep: Prime shorn ewes, 29s lOd to 30s 4d; prime wethers, 44s lOd to 46s 4d; medium do., 41s 4d to 43s 4d; prime maiden 4-tooth ewes, 39s lOd to 42s ld; prime shorn black-faced hoggets, 43s ld to 45s 7d; prime woolly do., 48s lOd to 54s 4d. Pigs: Prime porkers, £5 5s to £5 19s; medium do., £4 14s to £4 18s; lighter sorts, down to £4; prime baconers, £6 14s to £6 19s; medium do., £5 18s to £6 10s; weaners, 28s to 35s; slips, 36s to 42s; forward stores, £3 5s to £4 12s. Dairy and store cattle: Heifers, £12 10s to £14 10s; cows, £10 15& to £12 10s; bulls, £7, £8 " 10s, £10 10s to £14; good store cows exdairy, £6 to £7 2s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, £8 10s, to £10 l-0s. Fat cattle: Prime vealers, £9 12s 6d to £12 12s 6d; medium do., £6 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d; prime heavy ox, £25 17s 6d to £27 17s 6d; prime do., £23 12s 6d to £24 2s 6d; prime heavy heifers, £16 17s 6d to £19 2s 6d; prime do., £14 17s 6d to £15 12s 6d; prime cows, £14 7s 6d to £15 17s 6d; prime ex-dairy, cows, £9 2s 6d to £11 17s 6d; medium do., £7 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d.
