Combined Guilds Hold Aftenoon

• On a recent afternoon the members of the Presbyterian Ladies' Guild acted as hostesses to members of the Anglican and Methodist Guilds of Shannon. The large gathering assembled at the Parish Hall, which had been kindly >provided by the Anglican Church, and a delightful afternoon was speht. Miss Steele, of Foxton, entertained with pianoforte solos and the Foxton quartette, with Mrs. "R. Speirs as accompaniste, rendered delightful vocal numbers. Among the guests were the Rev. Messrs Wheeler, Ashworth and Martin, and ten members of the Foxton Presbyterian Guild were also present. • Original competitions arranged by Mesdames A. Burling, C. Tremewan and K. Mitchell . caused much interest and the winners were Mesdames R. Lester (Arapeti) , Thorne, Oram, and Swindlehurst. A delicious savoury afternoon tea concluded a very pleasant afternoon.
