No Rush To Get Butter Ration Cards
The tempting offer of an extra two ounces of butter in fShe new rationing period does not seem sufficiently enticing judging by the number of applications for ration cards. The former butter coupons are of no use after October 21 and the new ones come into use on October 24. Eight days have been allowed by the authorities for the changeover. There are 8000 people in the Levin district and the new cards should be issued at the rate of 1000 per day if a las't-minute rush is to be avoide'd. However, a ■check on the nuftiber df cards so
f ar issued telLS a ' differeht story. For the flrst two days, only 1316 people had been issued with ration cards, a far cry from the required 2000.
