Agricultural Competitions To Be Judged Soon
Calf- rearing and home gardening seem the 'most popular pastimes of the Horowhenua Boys' and Girls' Agricultural Club members judging from the large number of entries in these seciions of the annual competitions. The tatai entries in all sections of the 1949 competitions number 528. Detaile'd entries are as follows: Calf rearing (senior), 170; calf rearing (junior), 131; yearlings, 32; lambs, 83; pigs, 3; home gardens, 103 ; s two-year-oid competition, 6. Each school in the Horowhenua district is an agriculiutal club. Calf judging at the varlous schools will be held in the following dates, the names of the supervisors also being given: — Manakau: Monday, November 14, at 1.30 p.m,., Messrs O. N. Neilson and H. Piper. Reikorangi: Thursday, November 17, at 9.30 a.m,,- Messrs J. A. Greig and R. T. Henderson. Waikanae : Thursday, November 17, at 10.30 a.m,, Messrs E. D. Heffer and H. Blackburn. Paraparaumu: ' Thursday, November 17, ;at 1.30. p.m., Messrs J. Casey and W. H.( Mowbray. Otaki: Friday, November - 18, at 1.30 p.m., Me'ssrS N. Smith and O. H. Yates. Te Horo: Monday, November 21, at 1.30 p.m., Messrs K. Spiers and J. K. Duncan. Levin: We'dnesday, November 23, at 10.30 a.m., Messrs R. W. Evans and I. D. Farsons (south), Mr. H. J. Lancaster (North) and Messrs J. E. Honore and F. O. Malcolm (east). " Poroutawhao: ' Wednesday, November 23, at 1.30 p.m., Messrs C. Arcus and D. Hartstonge. Group judging will be held at the Levin School grounds on Friday, December 9, at 11 a.m.
