Ladies' Golf Title Won By Miss Lea
The final of the Otaki lady golfers' senior championship was played on Sunday over 36 holes between Mrs. I. Bradford and Miss H. Lea. After being three down on the morning round, Miss Lea improved in the afternoon to win the title two up. With the - first hole halved in bogey figures, Mrs. Bradford won the second and third to stand two up. Miss Lea won the fourth, but lost the fifth to remain two down. The sixth was halved and Miss Lea narrowed the gap by winning the seventh. Mrs. Bradford retaliated by winning the eighth and ninth, to be three up at the turn. The next six holes were all halved, and Miss Lea won the 16th to be two down. Mrs. Bradford won the 17th and, with the 18tli halved, the two contestants went to lunch with Mrs. Bradford three
up. The afternoon round started with a half at the 19th and Miss Lea reduced the gap ;by winning the 20th and 21st to be one down. Mrs. Bradford won the 22nd but struck a bad patch on the 23rd, which she lost. The 24th was halved in bogey figures, and Miss Lea squared the game by winning the 25th. -The next two were halved, and at the turn the match was all square. The 28th was halved and Miss Lea took the leacl for the first time by winning the 29th with a bogey three. She increased her lead by winning >the 30th. After halving the 31st, Mrs. Bradford eame back to win the 32nd and be one down. Miss Lea won the 33rd and Mrs. Bradford the 34th. With the 35th halved, Miss Lea was "dormy one" and succeeded in winning the last to finish two up. The ladies are holding their a.nnual meeting on October 19 and their 1949 season will close on 'the same day
