The final of the Otaki Golf j Club's senior men's championship • was pla.ye-d on • Sunday over 36 holes between Ted and Zane Gray. . After an exciting match in whieh foKunes alternated, Ted Gray was successful at the 38th. In the morning round ,with the first hole halved, Zane won the second with a birdie 3, and Ted evened the game by winning the third with a birdie 4. The fourth and fifth were halved, and Ted took the lead on winning the sixth with a bogey. The seventh was halved, and the eighth halvedin birdies. Ted won the ninth to stand two up at the turn. The long 10th was halved in bogey figures, and Zane reduced the deficit by winning the 11th. The 12th was halved and Ted returned to xwo up by winning the 13th with a birdie 3. With a birdie 4 at the 14th Ted increased his leaa to three up. Zane came back to win the 15th and 16th to be 011I3 one down, and with the 17th and 18th halved in bogey figures, they want to lunch wi.h Ted one up. Ted completed the 18 holes in bogey figures of 72, Zane's scorc being 73. m the afternoon the 19th and 20th were halved, and Ted increased his lead to two up with a birdie 4 at the 21st. With the 22nd halved, Zane won the 23rd to be one down. The next two were halved, and while Ted won the 26th with a birdie 3, Zane came back with a birdie 3 at the 27th to be one down at the tuni of the second eighteen. With the next two holes haived, Zane won the 30uh with a birdie 4 to stand all square. The next two were halved, the 32nd in birdies ' ancl Zane took the lead at the shorv. 33rd. Ted won the championship last year and has also been successful in earlier seasons. The final of the junior championship was played 'during the weekend between D. G. Reid ancl P. A. Willis, the latter winning two up. Next Saturday the annual Captain v. Secretary match will be played, to be followed by the golf dinner. Members wishing to participate in xhese functions, and who have not already advised the club captain. are asked to do so as early as possible.
