Meteor Fragment Pierces Hotel Roof
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 11. Scientific workers at Durham University have offered £50 each for piec.es oi a meteorite which is helieved to have exploded over a remote part of Caruarvonshire ahout 18 days ago. One piece weighing ahout two pounds went through the roof of the hotel at Beddgelert. It was at first oelieved by the villagers to be caused by an explosion of an atora bomb as the hands of the workman who picked it up swelled and became raw and red without obvious cause. Scientists later tested the man and t'ound he was not affected by atomic activity. They said the meteor probably exploded into thousnads of fragments when it encountered the earth's atmosphere.
