A most enjoyable evening was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Saturday by the Levin branch of the Labour Party. Mr. W. Doyle acted as master of ceremonies and was assisted by Mrs. Curtis. A happy atmosphere pervaded the proceedings from the beginning to the conclusion. Dancing interspersed with entertaining items occupied the time. Welcoming the party's candidate for the Otaki seat, Mr. D. J. Capstick, and Mrs. Capstick, Mr. E. D. Bell expressed gratification at the' large gathering and said it was pleasing to see promineht farmers and businessmen among those present. Mr. and Mrs. Capstick then mingled with those present. A tasty supper was dispensed by the committee of ladies. Mr. Capstick spoke to those present on matters f local and general interest, " -and congratulated the tiny tots on the excellent items they had contributed to the programme. The gathering concluded with cheers for Mr. and Mrs. Capstick and the singing of "Foj They Are Jolly Good Fellows."
