Otaki Te Horo Division Hold Meeting

Advice was received from the Aid for Britain Council by the Otaki-Te Horo branch of the Women's Division of Federate'c Farmers at its recent monthlj meeting that the 10 cases of foodstuffs and one case of soap, packed by branch members for the citizens of the town of Portchester, would be loaded on the ship Waipawa for shipment to Britain. 11 was also stated, that as a mark of appreciation for the admirable work done by the branch, the council was including a furthei three cases of food, in the shipment. After the hostesses, Mesdames Mansell and Strom, had provideo afternoon tea, the branch delegate to the Dominion conference, Mrs Walker, reported on the conference. The report gave a comprehensive study of all business attended, and mingled with humorous incidents, proved interestin^ to branch members. She consid ered the hard work done by delegates at the conference woulc greatly benefit the federation. said Mr. Walker. The president, Mrs. Blackburn, asked members to observe e minute's silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mrs. H. Witchell, a former member of the branch, and to Mrs Hall,*who had recently suffered the loss of her small daughter. A report on the provincial meeting held in Levin during Augusi was given by Mrs. D. C. Blake. II was also reported that six cases oi clothing had been packed and sent to Corso headquarters. The twenty-second birthday of the branch- will be " held in the Parish Hall, Otaki, on Tuesday, October 11, at 2 p.m. As the branch is anxious to build up it's reserve fund it has been sdecided to hold a jbring-and-buy sale, and all members are asked to contribute. Members are requested to be punctual oh the day of the fdnction, which is to be a general tea day. Those attending will be given an bpportiinity of contributing towards the leper appeal.
