News Of Tour By Singer Inia Te Wiata

News of Inia Te Wiata, famecl base singer now furthering his studies in England, states that in August, with several other students, he made an extended tour oi France, Switzerland and Italy. Writing of this. tour, Mr. J. Grant, Inia's New Zealand manager, forwards the following foi the information bf Inia's Otak. and district friends: "These tours, •because of conditions prevailing, the amount of money which one is allowed to take, the food situation, etc., and other factors, mean thao they are hurried affairs. The speed of the tour resulted in Inia losing eight pounds by the time he had returned to London. On occasions the .part yhad to take their rest on » seats in the parks, or at the side of rivers. Nevertheless, Inia seems to hiwe not missed one portion of the tour, and the "slightest detail has been recorded by him, and there is no doubt he will claim. a fascihated audience when relating his experiences later. "Inia tells of his impressions of Paris, Basle, Rome, the La Scala in Milan, Pisa and its leaning tower, the wonderful Swiss Alps, the Riviera, Monte Carlo, museums, opera houses, colosseum and of his swims in various rivers and oceans." The letter from Mr. Grant adds that in addition, Inia's education has had durther lustre added." to it by frequent broadcasts from the BBC in many Maori programmes and talks, and his decermination to make good by overcoming al. obstacles is still his paramount thought. Inia sends greetings t all his friends and kinsfolk.
