Salary Increases for Teachers
WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The Government Service Tribumal has authorised. increases in salaxies up to the limits of its jurisdiction for teachers in the education service, said the Minister of Education (Mr. McCombs) tonight. The increases ■will vary in ainount up to a total of £35 yearly of which £22 will he payahle from July 1, 1948, and the balance of £13 from July 1949. The Minister said the increases were' the result of applications made by the Acting Director of Education to the Tribunal after the Education Department and representatives of the three teachers' organisations had j reached an agreement on the sub- ; I missions to be made. _ J
