Gauit Brown and Robert Banks, both of Khandallah, Wellington, in ' the Levin Magistrate s Court yesterday before Mr. A. .. A. MeLachlan, S.M. Each pleaded guilty by letter and was convicted and fined 30s. Court costs were 6s 6d in each case. Charged with exceeding the 30 m.p.h. speed limit in a heavy trade veniele, James George Downey, of Hastings, pleaded- guilty. by letter, and was convicted and fined £2, with 10s court. costs. Exceeding the ■ speed limit .of 50 m.p.h. on the open road was the charge preferred against Francis James Deegan, of Levin.. He pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined £2 10s with 10s costs. Charged with being in possession of liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall, J, F. Taratoa and W. Johnson, of Otaki, were each convicted aird fined £3. The charges arose in respect of a dance at Ohau. Costs were 10s on each charge.
