Labour Choice for Roskill Seat
AUCKLAND. Oct. 6. Mr. .Tames Ureeman, immediate pastpresident of the Auckland Trades Conncil, has been selocted as ofheial T.abonr Partv candidate for the "Roskill electorate. The choice was announced tonight after a meeting of members of branches of the Party in the "Roskill electorate, which was attended by the national president and secretary, Messrs. .7. Roberts and A. McDonald. A spokesman said that the meeting was a large one. "Mr. Ureeman reeentlv, returned to the Dominion via Norwav, Rweden and Britain, after attending the world forestry conference which was held in Julv at Helsinki, Finland. He is viccpresident of the New Zealand TimbeT Workers' Union. He contested the Remuera seat unsuccessfullv at the 1 94-0 election. He is aged 49 years. The Roskill spat is held by Mr. F. Langsto'ne (Tndependcnt Labour), who resigned from the Parliamentary Labour Party after the referendum on compnlsory military training. Other candidates in the field are Mr .T. Rae (National) and Mr. J. B. Kennedy (Tndependent Liberal.)
