Levin Chess Season Nears Conclnsion

The aniiual "chess match, Wellington v. Provinces, for the Goldsmith Trophy, was played at Palmerston North last Saturday, resulting in a win for Wellington by 334 games to 35-|-. The Levin and district club was represented by R. Woodfield, who won both his games. IJnfortunately, no other member of the local club was available on the day of the match. It is planned to hold an official wind-up to the winter season's activities on Monday, Oetober 17. All members are urged to attend if possible. Next Monday it is intended to visit Te Horo for an evening at the residence of Mr. A. L. Macdonal'd. . Players who wish to participate are advised to contact Messrs McMinn, Nairn, Woodfield or Perigo so that transport may be arranged.
