Marriage Unites Otaki And Shannon Families

The wedding -took place recent^ ly at the Otaki Beach HaJl of Jean Grace, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jacobs, Otaki to Eric ■ Lionel, youngest son of Mr. S. and the late Mrs. Free, Shannon. The ceremony was performed by Mr. Neil Rowe, of' Rongotea, with Mrs. Allan Packer presiding at the organ. As the bride walked up the aisle escorted by her father she looked charming in a simple gown of brocaded satin, with high neck line, long tight sleeves and fuily trained skirt scalloped at the bot tom. She wore a veil of embroidered tulle, held in place by a tatted coronet. She earried a shower bouquet of Philippinense lilies, cyclamen and freesias, In attendance as bridesmaid was her elder sister, Miss Beryl Jacobs, dressed in apple green marquisette over taifeta, made with fitting bodice, full skirt and full puif sleeves. She wore a violet spray in her hair and earried a bouquet of freesias, cyclamen and violets. Rosemary, the bride's smal) sister, was her flower girl. She also wore marquisette over taffeta, made in Victorian style with puff sleeves, tiny bo'dice and full skirt trimmed with a deep frill around the shoulders. She earried a basket of violets and cyclamen. The bridegroom was atfcended by a friend, Mr. S. Mawhinney, of Palmerston North, as best man. As the bride left the hall, she was presented with .pretty satin horse shoes by her small cousins, Richard McEwen and Ray Jacobs. At the reception the bride's mother, Mrs. C. Jacobs, received the guests wearing an off white coat with navy accessories, assisted by the brfdegroom's eldest I sister, Mrs. E. Gardiner, who chose a chocolate ensemble and matching accessories. The three-tiered wedding cake, which was made by Mrs. Herbert Tews, had as its top-pi&ce the vase of flowers which had decorated the wedding cake of the bride's grandmother. For travelling the bride chose a tailored costume, with maroon and blue accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Free will make their future home at Aramoho. Prior to her wedding the bride was the guest at several gift evenings held in her honour.
