Poor Fishing Marks Opening Of Season
Anglers on the line for' the opening • of the season on Saturday morning had the benefit of perfect conditions for fly fishing, but their efforts were of little avail. On Sunday there were three fish taken out of the Otaki River, but at least eight enthusiasts returned with empty bags. However, it is yet too early to make an accurate forecast of the season's possibilities. Within a •month fishermen will have0 had the opportunity to scour the local streams, and should be able to assume the quantity of fish and the most promising places for anglers to try their luck.
