Penicillin Revolutionises Treatment Of Scarlet Fever
Received Wednesday, 12.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Qct. 5. ' The nse of penicillin had revolutionised the treatment of scarlet fever, said the superintendent of the Prince Henry Hospital, Dr- Q- J- Walters. He added that patients treated by penicillin injectioiis could leave the hospital in a week or ten days, whereas before penicillin they had to remain in hospital from six to eight weeks. The treatment was discpyered b.y Dr. N. J. Symington, SUperintendept of the infectio.us diseases section of the Princp Henry Hospital, who hegan experirpenting with the penicillin treatment ab.put 18 months ago,. .Penicillin injections also preveated complications such a§ gpint pains and naastoids. *(
