A large nest of termites was discovered in one of the wooden kerb rails on the Western Viaduct at Auckland last week. "Wlien a motor truck backed into the rail the timber collapsed, revealing the termites at work. Later investigations showed that the rail was badly infested for about 300ft. The entire area is under the control 'of the State Advances Corporation for treatment against termites. Infestations had previously been found in the sleepers on the wharf.
