Miss Coetmore's other items were of a lighter nature. She played a So.nata ih G by the 18th cen.uiy composer Br eval ahd Seven* Variatioris " by Beetho.ven on a themg by Mozart. In both she" showed "to great advantage., especially in the latter in j which "thev qualities of the two , great composers were interpreted •with charm and humour. Other numbers were "Largetto" (Randelj, ' "Pastorale'r " (Caupefiii), "Apres un Reve" (Faure), and "Allegro Vivo" (Francoeqr) . Dprothy Davies. is well known to listepers for ' her broadcasting work." She contributed a bracket | of numbers by Brahms — Rhapsody, I Interme'zzd in E Maj'or and" Cap1 priccio, a well-varied group which i showed to advantage ' the technique and interpretative powers of this fine artist. In Mrs. Ellwpod Leyin has a singer of outstanding meritTHer voice,' a clear soprano of delightful quality, is beautifully produced and th'e singerfs pleasant manner and deep understanding of what she is singing impressed her audience. In "The CornPMe|d'' qiid "Spring Waters,"" by Rachmhninoff, Mrs. Ellwood "was at "her best", revealing with her other gifts, considerable dramatic pqwer.
