Appeal To Beautify Levin Poorly Supported
The Levin and District Beautifying Spciety's annual street day notted £32 10s when it was held on Friday. The result was dlsaf^>oihting to the society considefing the 'Worthiness of the object. PerhaRs it was that the ayerage citizen did not realise what the sqciety does to " enhari.ee the riatural attractions of tpwp ahd the close watch it keeps over the. beauty spqts. Meqibers of tHe organisation are coristantly active and although the resiilts are not often " neadline news,'it is well to remember that thq good work goes on throughout the. year. Next time citizens" hear gratifying remarks from the travelling public concernlhg Leyin^s pleasing appearance, give tliqught to the beautifying society and rqake a pfomise. tq support it financially at its next street day. One "tning" which * was" pArticularly noticeable was the manner in wpich the young women of the town 'offered their services as collqcfors, even "\vhen it me,ant in some 'cases that they had to arrange for someOne ' to mind iheir children. It is unusual for such offers to be made spontaneousiy ahd it speaks ipore thqn wgll fpp the future 6f Levin. " Their ' help Was 'very much apprecialed, as was the leadership of the Ma'yoress, Mrs. H. B.
