Rugby gate takings throughout the Horowhepua union fpr season just concluded 'totalied £1188' 2s 6d anp of that sum £148 6s lld wili be paid for" the1 use'of grourids. The se'cre^ary, Mr. J. E. r'uliarton, gave this informatidh tb last night's meeting of the unioips management ' cDmmittep. He estimated that the season would show a surplus of £160. The takings at the various grouiids were, as foliows, the amounts to be paid out for their' use being sllown in parentheses : nevin Park Domain, ' £708 4s "6d (£70 16s 5d) ; Shannon Domain, £174 5s (£17 8s Qd) ; FQXt6ii/'£l'l4 5s (£22 17s) ; Manakau, £36 19s (.£7 ' 7s lOd) ; Otaki Doniain, £134 13s (£26 18s 7$) Para'paraumu, -13 13s (£2 18s' 7d) ; ahd Paekakariki £6 3s. ' The chairman, Mr. R. L. Robinson, 1 voiced the committee's 'aipprecjation to Mr. Fullarton on the mteiest he " had " taken in the union's afiairs during the season a'nd the efficienr service he hRd renqered. • Work Of St. John Praised. Comment on the dssist'unce which members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade had been- tp reierees and piayers was made byMr. C. E. Wiseley. The chairman and other memcers also paid tribute to 'the work of the brigade and the committee resolved- to recognise it with a donation .of £5 5s. A motion of thanks was passed to the Levin Training Centre'Tpr the use of its gymnasium during the season. A letter ffom the Southern Disr trict (North Island) Railway Rugby Union expressed appreciation of the hospitality extended to its representatives whe.n they visited Levin to play Horowhenua. It was decided to make'a grant'of £7 towards the visiting team's expense?.' Thanks for the union's interest and financial support given during the season were contained in a letter from the Horowhenua P.npiary Schools' Rugby Union. ' "YoUr foresight in foSbering school football will be beneficial to rugby in the future," the letter added. Raference was made by the chairman to selections played by district bands at some of the games. It was decided to show the union's appreciation by a donation of £2 2s to the Levin Municipal Band, £1 ls to the Otaki Band and £1 ls to the Foxton Band. The Wellington Rugby Union conveyed thanks for the hospitality extended to its senior B representatives on the occasion of their visit to Levin, particularly mentioning the kindnesses" extended by Mr. D. J. Oliver. A similar expression was received in regard to the Wellington senior s'econd division team's game at Paraparaumu, the Wellington union especially thanking Messrs R. Ll RbDmsbrl, W. Howell and L. Jamieson. Punahau Congratulated. The committee declared Punahau the winners of the Licensed Victuallers' Cup competition. The chairman congratulated the club on its play throughout the season and on winning the cup and junior championship. The Paraparaumu Club forwarded the names of M. Waikarae, J. Kaiweka, L. Paewai, G. Beasley and J. Ropata (seniors) , and H. Hough (fourth grade.) , for notifipation to the Maori Rugby Advisory Board in repjy to ils enquiry for the names of Maori piayers. Punahau juniors were granted permission to play a friendly match in Feilding on Saturday. Before the meeting terminated the chairman voiced his warm thanks to members of the committee, the secretary and Press for their part in the success of the season. He then entertained those present at supper.
