Divorce In Russia Will Be Harder To Get
Received Tuesday, 9.35 a.m. LONDON. October 3. Tlie Soviet Supreme Court^has decided to make it harder for Russians to get a divorce, said Moscow radio today. Early in the Communist regime either a husband or wife could get a divorce merely by filing notice with the proper authorities. This resulted in such a wave of divorces that the Government became alarmed and began to tighten the laws. From now on divorces will be granted, firstly, when a divorce is sought "for serious and well-found-ed motives" and, secondly, when a marriage "contradicts the princinlrs of Communist morality and there can be no re-establishment of normal conditions for cohabitation and the upbringing of children." The broadcast said that the court's decisions must give the popu1ation a respect of marriage '.'based on the lofty principles of Communist morality, upheld by Soviet law."
