Three Deaths By Drowning And Fire

AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. Two Maoris were burned. to death when fire destroyed a shack at the Minginui Settlement near Te Whaiti at 3 o' clock this morning. They were beyond hope of rescue in6 the furiously burning building, when the fire was seen by- a jieighbour. The victims were ' ^ DAVID PADLIE, aged 26, single, timber worker. MRS SARAH SIMA, aged 25, of Minginui. A mill hand living in a nearby building, was awakened by,the glare of the flames but the fire appeared to have been burning fiercely and nothing could be done to extinguish the outbreak or to aid the occupants. The bodies were recovered later this morning.
