Mr. B. V. Cooksley Speaks In Otaki
Despite a cold night, the Angli- ; can Hall was comfortably fllled when Mr. B. V. Cooksley, National . Party candidate for Wairarapa, addressed a meeting on Thursday ; night. Mr. J. D. Avery, who presided, welcomed the " speaker, stating that he needed no introduction. Mr. Cooksley was given a most atlentive hearing. The speaker reported that the National Party was in good shape, and said that as the principles of his party were "more correct, we wiil win out." He spoke for just over an hour and covered a variety of topics, dealing with . matters of imerest to dairy and sheep farmers, housewives, market gardeners and electors generally. At the conc-usion of his address Mr. Cooksley signified his willingness to answer questions, but none were forthcoming, and a Vote of thanks was -carried by acclamation. The screening of two very interesting films followed. The first was "Life in Canada," which showed some picturesque Canadian scenery. The second film, intended to convey that discovery and initiative came Irom individuals, was entitled "For You To Decide." It depicted many incidents showing the value of individual industrial efforts. Supper was served by the ladies and an enjoyable social chat concluded a successful meeting.
