Broadhurst (Auckland) . Bantamweight: R. A. Broadhurst (Auckland). Featherweight: W. Patterson (Hawke's Bay). Jbightweight: K. Anderson (Otago). Welterweight: J. Mclvor (Hawke's Bay). Middleweight: H. Rush (Wellington). Light - heavyweight: C. Rollinson " (Auckland). Heavyweight: F. Creagh (Wellington). J. Mclvor (Hawke's Bay) 10.3 had to give of his best to retain his welterweight title against a serious ehallenge by the game Ashburton lad, J. Grant, 10.6. Mclvor early landed heavy rights and lefts but Grant seemed to thrive on punishment and proved he could use both hands to good effect. Mclvor 's superior experience and ringcraft helped him wear his opponent down to such an extent that the referee stopped the bout halfway through the third round. ) The final for the middleweight title in "which H. Rush (Wellington) 11.5$ outpointed J. Thompson (Auckland) 11.1, was one of the most thrilling cohtests of the evening. Eush scored weil with both hands in the fiist round; Thompson did better in the second round and held'his own in some wiliing exehanges. Both men were very tired as the round ended and had more respect for each other. In the last round Eush brought his punches over faster and gained a clear-eut victory. The final of the light-heavyweight title which was won by C. Boliinson (Auckland) 11.3 resembled a burleque more than a national final. W. Eusse.il,' the Canterbury veteran who seaied'. 11.101, was the clown. In taking the flyweight title, G. W. Broadhurst (Auckland) 7.11$ made short work of C. Shanks (Southland) 8. The contest lasted only 96 seconds. I'he Aueklander was much superior and pur. Shanks down for the full count with a left-rip to the body. E. A. Broadhurst (Auckland) 8.4A was much too pugnacious for C. Smith (Taumarunui) 8.31, in the bantamweight final. The Aueklander tore in with both hands in the first round but was steadied with good rights to the head by the tall Taumarunui lad. Broadhurst continued to attack in the second round and put Smith down for, the count of eight with a left-rip to the body. When he dropped the Taumarunui lad again, the referee stopped the contest. \\r. Patterson (Hawke's Bay) 8.13 re ' tained his featherweight title easily by beating D. Glozier (Southland) 8.13$, in the final. Keeping up a relentless at-. tack, Patterson proved so superior thai the referee stopped the unequal contest early in the second round. K. Anderson (Otago) 9.4$ took tht lightweight title by giving E. Elley (Wellington) 9.9, a boxing lesson. He scored freely with straight lefts to the head and occasionally brought over a t'ast right in the first two rounds. Eealising he was wrell behind on points, Elley forced the pace in the last round but the Otago man met him more than haifway and won by a wide margin. In a spec.ial welterweight contest over six two-minute rounds, W. MeMillan (Waimate) 10.11 beat W. Ellery (Timaru) 10, on points. In an exhibition bout J. MeAnally (Otago) 8.12$ beat B, Collings (Oamaru) 8.121 over four rounds.
