Large Farra Building Razed In Koputaroa Fire

A large wood and galvanised iron shed containing milking plant and farrn implements was conipietely destroyed at Koputaroa on Sunday afternoon when fire swept . through the building. The shed was situated on the property of Mr. W. Dustin, which is occupied by Mr. A. Hurliman. A tractor ■suffered some damage before it was -hauled out by a fire fighting squad from Leyin, but a truck was fairly extensive'y burned "be-. f ore it was hauled clear. ' ' The outbreak occurred at about 3 p.m. A call was sent tb the Levin Fire Brigade, superintendent W. Saimons responding with a hastily recruited squad of volunteers. When the party arrived by ear the fire had .a firm hold. Bucket pumps were used to effect in an ■ endeavour to check the flames, while efforts were made to salvage the truak and tractor, this work being carried out with the assistance of another tractor from a nearby farm.
