WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. In the House of Representatives today, Mr. D. C. Kidd (Waimate) gave notice to ask the Minister of Finance whether he would give favourable consideration to the removal of the saies tax on equipment used for rural electric reticulation, in view of the urgent need for rural power board authorities to be relieved of taxation. In a note to the question, Mr. Kidd said at present the saies tax was imposed at the rate of £33 per -mile and the Rural Electric Reticulation Couneil had authorised 12,000 miles of line which would result in £39,600 being paid by way of saies tax.
