Messrs Townsend and Paul, Lt'd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that at last week's sale supplies of green vegetables Were * scarce and some ' very attractive values were realised. . Marked • increases were shown in prices of citrus fruits. • Conslgn- ; ments • of flowers have not been heavy and some very good values were returned. Yardings of poultry have been small and there is a Strong demand for all prime birds. Quotations are: — Vegetables: — Artichokes, 5s 6d to 6s 6d; swedes, 3s to 5s; kumeras, 42s to 50s all sugar bags; asparagus, 2s 6d; to 3s 6d; spring onions, 6s to 7s 9d; mint, 4d to 8d; parsley, 6d to 2s 6d; radishes, 4d to 8d; chinese cabbage, 4d to lOd; celery, ls 3d to 2s 3d alh bunches; beans, broad, ls 10d;peas, Hawke's Bay, ls lOd; sprouts, 10d to ls 2d all per pound; beefcroot, 8s to 10s; cabbage, 6s to 17s, 6d; iettuce, 10s to ,27s; parsnips,. 14s to 20s; rhubarb, local, 16s to 26s; South Island, 20s; siiver beet, 3s 6d to 10s 6d; spinach, 30s to40s; white turnips, 7s to1 10s all cases; cauliflowers,' choice Nelson,. 30s to 36s; others, 25s to 30s; marrows, 20s to 30s; pumpkins,. triumble, 38s to 47s; greys, 16s 6d to 26s all sacks; new potatoes, ceiling price.
