Triple Basketball Success
On Saturday the basketbail courts of Otaki Textile, Ltd., were the venue fdr the annual games with Soma Softgoods. Ltd., Wellington. Visiting players arrived early in an attempt to take three trophies back with them, but the home teams successfully withstood the challenge. In the morning the contest for the B grade Daphne Cup saw the home side win a most even con- • test by the slender margin of one goal, the score being 11—10. A preliminary between Otaki A ^.nd Daphne resulted in an easy victory for the former, 12 — 3. The stage was then set for the main game between the A gra'de players for the Soma Cup. Again a most even contest resulte'd with the home side having the edge on the visitors and winning narrowly 8—7. fcetweeii. the mep's teamsfor a ffower howl followed and after the sterling efforts of the ladies, the, men literally threw everything into the game. A burlesque contest resulted with rugby moves predominating and again Otaki carried too many guns and won 8 — 6.
