The speaker then oalled on Mr. VT. Brindle, MJL.C., to address the gathering. The latter. expressed pleasure at being asv, sociated with the welcome to the' guests. He referred hriefly to the progress made by the movement and the Otaki branch, and indi- ' cated that ihe future prospects I were regarded very highly. All j must work hard, however, said Mr. Brindle, if all the benefits now enjoyed were to be retained. • Mr. D. Murphy, representing the Otaki Railway branch, apologised for the unavoidable absence of 1 the president, Mr. A. D. Webster, and joined .the previous speakers in extending a cordial welcome to the new candidate. A tasty supper, served by the ladies, concluded an enjoyable evening.
